In the 1920s, avant-garde artists and writers from France, Germany and Switzerland emphasized instinct, spontaneity, and irrationality, and opposed the existing system and conventional art. This culture movement is called dada. Hannah Hoch is a German Dadaist artist and The only woman who participated in Dada in Berlin. she used photo-montage and collage to make her point about the political events of the time and the roles and positions of women. She introduced a new work called photomontage, which is a work of tearing up and combining illustrations.
She showed the turbulent times using numerous images from portraits, mechanical elements, metropolitan landscapes and propaganda.
