Jenny Holzer is an American Conceptual artist best known for her text-based public art projects. Exploring how language is used both as a form of communication and control for example advertisement and propaganda. Throughout Holzer’s career she has applied mainly two medias including large-scale projections and LED display.

Holzer has used projection onto architecture and advertising on billboards that looked at words and ideas presented in public spaces. In this artwork is called Lustmord, it is addressing the sexual violence towards women in Germany. The text is written on the skin of females and either the viewpoint of the perpetrator or victim of the rape. The reasoning behind this artwork/tattoo, is to represent that rape permanently harms people and the damage can not be reverse (Much like a tattoo).
