Using a variety of different themes such as the issues of the relationship between personal and political politics in Muslim countries, gender, and identity, she was able to create amazing art pieces in numerous medias (photography, film, and video).
Women without Men (2009)
Shirin Neshat create a film in 2009, which consisted of a political activist, a prostitute, and a would-be mother, the film was set in the 1950s Iran. Additionally this film also won the Silver Lion award in Venice Film Festival.
Recently
Shirin Neshat has begun to collaborate with an American artist Larry Barns, taking photographs (portraits) of elderly, low-income Egyptian workers, mechanics, street peddlers, teachers, grandmothers, and housewives. Looking deeply into the experiences and hardships of individuals live under severe authority.She has also been working closely with the singer song writer Sussan Deyhim, and composer Philip Glass.
