Zhang Huan is Chinese artist lived in Shanghai and New York city, and he was born in 1965 and 张桓 is his real name in Chinese. He began his career as a painter, which means he will painter the artwork with his own body for performance, so he is excellently a performance artist with passion and making photographs and sculpture as well. For his education, he got B.A. from Henan University in Kaifeng in 1988, and M.A. from China Central Academy of Fine Art in Beijing in 1993, that would assist him to make a big difference in art.

Zhang Huan's performance is always presented with his body in one way or another, usually naked, sometimes he would like to involve masochistic actions. Zhang's artwork was often reprimanded by officials, that reason is his artwork is not appropriate for his actions. Zhang Huan connected body in his sculptures as well, he makes gains copper hand and feet, magnified versions of fragments of broken Buddhist figures.
